New York City GF
Gluten free open-faced bagel sandwiches from Modern Bread and Bagel!
New York City is a food lover's paradise, but as a teen with celiac disease, finding safe, gluten-free options seemed daunting. Thankfully, NYC offers tons of restaurants that cater to gluten-free diets without compromising on taste or experience. Here’s a journey through some incredible gluten-free dining spots I visited during my first trip to the Big Apple!
Friedmans Hell's Kitchen
Dinner on my first night was amazing at Friedmans Hell's Kitchen. This cozy, family-friendly restaurant takes gluten-free dining seriously, ensuring no cross-contamination with dedicated cooking areas and flagged GF dishes.
What I Ordered:
GF Mac and Cheese
Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Brussel Sprouts
Veggie Gyoza
Fried Chicken on a Maple Waffle
Cheesecake for Dessert
Max Brenner's at the NYC Christmas Markets
While exploring the magical NYC Christmas markets, I discovered Max Brenner's, which went viral on Tik Tok for its rich and decadent hot chocolate- luckily naturally gluten free! Definitely a must try- the thickest, richest hot chocolate I have ever tasted!
WILD
For an unforgettable Italian dinner, WILD was great. This restaurant was entirely gluten-free and was a very cozy and inviting ambiance!
What I (and my gf-dad) Ordered:
Creamy Ravioli
Spaghetti Bolognese
Cheese Biscuits
Penne alla Vodka
Desserts: The dessert menu is an array of gluten-free delights including cheesecake, brownies, macarons, red velvet and carrot cake, and crème brûlée!
Modern Bread and Bagel
Brunch at Modern Bread and Bagel was amazing. This entirely GF bagel shop and bakery offers a wide variety of options, much more extensive than its Los Angeles location.
What I Ordered:
Cupcakes
Chocolate Filled Donuts
Mint Chip Flavored Brownies
Bagels with Lox and Cream Cheese
Bagels with Pastrami or Avocado Toppings
Senza Gluten
Another Italian restaurant, Senza Gluten is a family-owned restaurant where is gluten-free, ensuring an incredibly safe dining experience.

Fried Mozzarella Balls
Caesar Salad
Gnocchi
Truffle Pasta
Lasagna and Spaghetti Bolognese

Return to Friedmans Hell's Kitchen for Brunch
On my last day in NYC, I returned to Friedmans Hell's Kitchen for brunch- it was just that good, with so many things I hadn’t yet tried!
What I Ordered:
Lemon and Raspberry Ricotta Pancakes
Eggs and Toast on a Potato and Ham Mash
Conclusion
