Disneyland GF
GF tacos, beans, and rice from El Rancho del Zocalo restaurante in Frontierland!
Hey there Disney fans! Let me tell you about my awesome gluten-free adventure at Disneyland Anaheim, where there are plenty of delicious gluten-free options scattered throughout the park (you might be surprised!).
Snacks
There are plenty of gluten-free options at Disney, especially on those snack carts! My personal favorites are the Mickey's ice cream bar (I double-checked the ingredients on the package), the naturally gluten-free popcorn and cotton candy- perfect snacks for waiting in line! The giant pickles in Adventureland are always gluten-free and so delicious. Also in Adventureland, you can't miss the Pineapple Dole Whip at the Enchanted Tiki Room. This tropical treat that's totally gluten-free and delicious!
Meals (Lunch and Dinner)
When it comes to meals, the Disney app was incredibly helpful. I ordered ahead at Galactic Grill and got myself a "gluten-friendly" salad. It came with a sealed packet of Ken's Italian dressing, grilled chicken and feta cheese, plenty of protein and absolutely safe and delicious.
For dinner, we went to El Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante in Frontierland. It's buffet-style, but don't worry, if you're gluten-free, just chat with the chefs at the front of the buffet line and they'll cook a separate, celiac-safe meal for you in the back (very accomodating!). I got cauliflower, beef, and chicken tacos with some rice and beans- so delicious, and they even put an "allergy" stick on my plate to signify it was safe.
Other Sweets
The candy shop on Main Street is a must-visit. They've got an allergy booklet that shows you which treats are gluten-free, so you can indulge without worry. I loved the Minnie Mouse caramel apple and the marshmallow chocolate wand!
Overall, navigating Disneyland with celiac was much less stressful than I had anticipated, thanks to all the gluten-friendly options, the helpful staff, and the Disneyland app. Make sure to download the Disneyland app beforehand for easy ordering and keep an eye out for those allergen-friendly sections on the menus. I hope you have a great, gluten-free day at the happiest place on earth!
Remember, traveling with Celiac Disease doesn’t have to be stressful or impossible- with a little planning and some insider tips, you can have a worry-free adventure. :)
